Knut Navrot: synthèse 1980 – 2015

24 September – 3 November 2015

Knut Navrot was just 20 years old when he met Günter Fruhtrunk who accompanied him at the beginning of his career. After working on rhythms of coloured fields with muted tones, Navrot became interested in the concept of the limit between two colours.

In 1990, he formalised his approach by defining a pictorial process based on 49 limits, the primary colours and then black and white. From then on, each series would be preceded by a device including randomness. “MsoNoSpacing”>Our first exhibition of Knut Navrot in 2008 showed works resulting from a device integrating a colour chart of 42 colours.

This retrospective on the occasion of his 60th birthday will present a synthesis of the research that has marked his career.

Denise Lioté: quête de lumière (carte blanche)

7 May – 9 June 2015

Denise Lioté is in the spotlight for the third time at the gimpel & müller gallery with carte blanche for her 90th spring and some 70 years of creation. Her fluid painting mixes tranquility and space, breathing and vibration. Her increasingly abstract and geometric forms seem to fly towards the light and blend into transparency. She has at her side her faithful friends and companions but also some great departed ones.

Artists exhibited :

Eve  Gramatzki, Alexandre Hollan, Krochka, Denise Lioté, Véra  Ppagava, Joan Palà, Jacques Pourcher, Irène Zack, Léon Zack.

Vera Röhm: variations géométriques

14 March – 2 May 2015

Among the many cycles of works by Vera Röhm, this exhibition presents the series Einschnitte im Würfelsystem (cuts in a set of cubes) which offers a subtle play of light-shadows and the positive-negative imprints that result from it

In the cycle Etaiement the artist is interested in the geometric graphics of the shoring of the Beaubourg district in full reconstruction at the beginning of the ’70s. An excellent photographer, Vera Röhm has taken numerous black and white shots, some of which are reworked by enhancing elements in color.
